Hey guys, so I am back with an essential post today, well as you can see from the title, this is about handling disappointments.
As teenagers and even adults (those who might be reading this right now…hiiiiiiiiiiiii) disappointment is a thing that life has packed for us in a very hefty box and serves it most of the time unfairly.
Although I am not here to talk about having disappointments, I am here to talk about what you do when it happens and you’re about to get overwhelmed. Last year, a few months after my exams for university, I got the list of students that were admitted and very unfortunately my name was not on the list. Now I got 78% out of 100 on one of the exams (PUTME) and a 238 out of 400 on another, seems like a pretty alright result. Some people on that list had lower scores than I did but they still got in, so yeah I was extremely disappointed, I cried for a very long time, and my parents were upset too, everyone who knew kept saying its okay you’ll make it on the second list, well that isn’t out so if you’re reading this pray for me lol.
Uhm okay so what has helped me get on with life with as much zeal as before or even more is the thought that I am still breathing. One of my pastors made a statement that has kept me going as much as I shake or hurt or cry from disappointment. If one thing says no, something even better will say yes, those weren’t his words exactly “Obehi if Ilorin says no Harvard will say yes.” That was what he said (Ilorin was the school applied for btw). It took that and a lot of talking to God to give me the strength to still be happy to keep me the way I am. Being sad is fine though as long as it doesn’t prevent you from living.
We most times don’t get what we want and as much as it hurts and we are so tempted to give up we have to think about what we’ll loose of we don’t try again as many times as it takes. Sometimes disappointment gives us the zeal to try harder the next time. As much as it might seem as though it’s the end of the world, it’s also the beginning of a lot of new things and exciting things. So next time you get disappointed, after a while remember to relax, report to heaven and to regroup.
Thank you Guys so so much for reading this. I
even had a few views on my previous post and I didn't even advertise it. Anyways thanks a million and of course feedback is amazing.
